What a camera inspection shows
A waterproof camera on a flexible cable travels the length of the sewer line while the contractor watches on a screen. It shows roots at joints, cracks, broken or offset sections, low spots (bellies) where water sits, grease and scale buildup, and where the pipe material changes. A transmitter in the camera head lets the contractor mark the spot and depth from above ground.
Why look before you fix
A repair quote without footage is a guess. Seeing the pipe lets you compare options: cleaning, root removal, descaling, a spot repair or lining. Ask for a copy of the video so you can get a second opinion if you want one.
